The main areas of restrictions should be gas supplies from Russia and expanding the list of banks that will be disconnected from SWIFT.
The European Union has already begun work on the seventh round of sanctions against Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Pawel Jablonsky told the PAP.
Yablonsky clarified that the main areas of restrictions should be gas supplies from Russia and expanding the list of banks that will be disconnected from SWIFT. In this context, he cited Gazprombank, which arranged “payment for gas in rubles”.
“The sanctions should be more stringent – in the context of gas that Russia can still sell, in the context of disconnecting all Russian banks from the SWIFT system. The main thing I am talking about is Gazprombank. There is also a need for an embargo on technologies that Russia can still supply and use under this industry, ”Pavel Yablonsky explains.
Poland’s Deputy Foreign Minister added that in addition to formal sanctions, it is necessary to confiscate, and not just freeze, Russia’s assets in Europe.
“Work on this issue is already underway,” Yablonsky added.
Recall, the European Union officially published on June 3 the sixth package of sanctions against the Russian Federation with a partial embargo on oil. It is not possible to agree to a complete embargo on Russia’s oil. The obstacle was Hungary’s position.
