Ukraine is actively replacing its military equipment on the battlefield with dummies so that the Russian army spends shells on destroying decoys.

According to CNN, the Ukrainian mining and metallurgical company Metinvest, owned by businessman Rinat Akhmetov, is manufacturing exact copies of military equipment. It has already made hundreds of replicas of various types of Western weapons, which were subsequently destroyed by Russian troops.
War is expensive, and we need the Russians to spend money on using drones and missiles to destroy our fake targets,” a company representative, who wished to remain anonymous, told reporters. — Finally, drones and missiles are expensive. Our models are much cheaper.
Thus, according to him, the British-made 155-mm M777 howitzer used in Ukraine costs several million dollars, and Metinvest creates a replica of it from ordinary sewer pipes for less than a thousand dollars.
After each hit, the military hands over captured debris to us. We collect them. If our bait was destroyed, then our work was not in vain,” explained a Metinvest representative.
After the war began, he says, company employees rushed to create copies to send to the front lines to make Ukraine look more armed than it actually was. However, at first the models were quite crude and, when the dummies did not attract the attention of the enemy for a long time, the engineers returned to the drawings to redo them.
We do not count the number of fake targets produced, but the number destroyed. The faster the traps are destroyed, the better for us,” the interlocutor noted.
