Since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, 9,614 civilians have been killed and 17,535 injured. The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) reported this on Monday, September 11.
“UNHCHR believes that the actual number of civilians killed or injured is higher, as many reports from locations where such incidents occurred continue to require further confirmation, while information is being received from several locations where fighting continues. action has been delayed,” the document notes, according to the UN.

In August, the number of new deaths decreased to 147 from 161 in July, 186 in June, 174 in May, 182 in April, 181 in March, 144 in February. The deadliest month for civilians, according to the UN, remains March last year, with at least 4,168 deaths. In April 2022, according to the OHCHR publication, the number of civilian deaths due to the war fell to 823, in May to 550, in June to 429 and in July to 386. In the first five days of the war from February 24 to February 28 375 people died, in August last year – 340, in September – 408, in October – 310, in November – 188, in December – 206 and in January this year – 201.
The number of injured during the 10 days of September was 237, compared to 565 in August.
The OHCHR clarified that since the beginning of September, 54 people have died and 170 others have been injured from explosive weapons, while one person has died from mines and explosive remnants of war and 16 people have been injured (6 %).
According to the UN, government-controlled territories accounted for 79% of the casualties in the first 10 days of September.
