The two countries face new sanctions if they violate UN Security Council resolutions on arms transfers.
The United States will closely monitor the results of the meeting between DPRK leaders Kim Jong In and the Russian Federation’s Vladimir Putin and will introduce new sanctions against the two countries if the DPRK transfers any weapons in Russia. This was said by the spokesperson of the US State Department, Matthew Miller, Ukrinform reports.
“I would remind both countries that any transfer of arms from North Korea to Russia would be a violation of several UN Security Council resolutions,” Miller said.
He added that the United States will closely monitor the results of the upcoming meeting between Putin and Kim. Miller warned that the American side will maintain pressure on sanctions against the DPRK and Russia, and will not hesitate to apply new restrictions.
In his opinion, negotiations between Russia and the DPRK on weapons for a terrorist country indicate the effectiveness of US sanctions and export control measures.
Meanwhile, the Korean Central News Agency reported that on September 10, Kim Jong-in boarded a special train from Pyongyang to the Russian Federation. He was accompanied by the main leaders of the country’s party, government and armed forces.
Earlier, the media wrote that Kim Jong-un was preparing to export shells.
