Recently, the staff of the Zaporizhzhya NPP has been working under pressure from the occupiers, which is only getting stronger.
The occupiers were not able to turn off the Zaporizhzhya NPP, although they repeatedly threatened to do so. This was stated by the chairman of NAEK Energoatom Petr Kotin on the air of the all-Ukrainian TV marathon “United news”.
“Many experts are now speculating what is going on at ZAES. The personnel are working under pressure from the occupiers. But now it is impossible to kill the station. If they put all the personnel at gunpoint, they can, like terrorists, force.workers kill the station, but it will be an act of nuclear terrorism.Because when the station is killed, all the bombs that cool the reactor cores will stop, they are six.Of course, it will lead to a nuclear catastrophe, so we don’t consider it possible. And the staff will do their job until the very end so that The blocks will work safely, which means they are working for Ukraine’s energy system, ” he says.
Kotin added that ZNPP personnel were working under pressure from the occupiers, which has intensified recently.
Recall that since March 4, 2022, the Zaporozhye NPP has been controlled by Russian occupiers. Also under the occupiers was the satellite city of the nuclear power plant – Energodar. During the capture of the station, the occupiers turned off online surveillance to hide their actions from the IAEA. The European Union has called on Russia to restore control of the ZNPP in Ukraine.
Earlier, on June 3, the GUR MOU said that there was a critical situation in the Zaporozhye NPP to ensure the stable and safe operation of the station, as the business had almost no spare parts and consumables.
