Summit participants called for immediate and unhindered supplies of grain, food and fertilizers from Russia and Ukraine.
They also stated that the threat of using nuclear weapons is unacceptable.
The G20 welcomes constructive initiatives that support “a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine.” States must refrain from threatening force to seize territories against the sovereignty of any state, the communiqué said.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the summit had found compromise formulations in the blocks related to the Russian war against Ukraine.
Reuters suggested that the language could be similar to that determined for the declaration of the Indonesian summit in 2022. They noted that most countries condemn Russia for starting the war, but there are other views.
The main points on Ukraine were as follows:
- All states must act in accordance with the purposes and principles of the UN.
- All states must refrain from the threat of force for the purpose of acquiring territory against the sovereignty of any state
- The use of nuclear weapons in the war in Ukraine is unacceptable.
- Peaceful conflict resolution, diplomacy and dialogue are critical.
- The G20 is ready to support all constructive initiatives aimed at supporting a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine, which will meet all the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.
- The leaders called for full implementation of the “grain agreement” to ensure food and fertilizer supplies from Ukraine and Russia.
Earlier, Racurs reported that participants at the G20 summit argued bitterly over the wording in which they intended to describe the war in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the Turkish President allegedly insisted on concessions to Russia in order to extend the “grain agreement.”
