Russia is demanding a return “to the basics, to the agreements that were in place from the beginning,” Dmitry Peskov said.
In the West, they seem to be planning to open SWIFT for a subsidiary of Rosselkhozbank, but Russia demands that all “agreements” be fulfilled. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said this on Saturday, September 9, commenting on information about possible proposals to renew the grain agreement.
“For example, today we are talking about the fact that the Westerners are ready to promise to open SWIFT for the subsidiary of Rosselkhozbank. But the fact is that the agreement says that SWIFT should be open for Rosselkhozbank, and not for in the subsidiary,” said Peskov.
According to him, Russia demands a return “to the basics, to the agreements that were previously in place.”
“The President (Putin – ed.) clearly said that as soon as they are fulfilled, the agreement will be immediately renewed, but not the other way around. Since there are already many promises, we consider ourselves right and consider ourselves obliged to first wait for this fulfillment, and then renew this agreement,” Peskov explained and added that “everything is completely possible to implement.”
Let’s recall that on September 8, the media reported the secret correspondence between the UN and Russia on the renewal of the grain agreement. The UN proposal consists of four points that significantly weaken sanctions against Moscow.
After that, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry responded to possible agreements between the UN and Russia.
