We will be ready for EU membership in the next two years, but of course the course of the war will determine the political framework. “I believe that two years will be enough for us to be fully prepared, and at the moment when the war ends, we will do ten times more than we are doing now to ensure that this decision is made,” Stefanishina emphasized.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, even in war conditions, Ukraine is a large part of the European economy, one of the twenty importers of various products in the EU, and the largest market in Europe:
And from this point of view, Ukraine’s readiness to join the EU is the highest among other countries.
Earlier, she said that negotiations on EU membership will begin before the end of the year, although Ukraine will not be able to fulfill all seven criteria of the European Commission until October.
In October, we will not hear that we have fulfilled all 7 requirements 100%, because this is a large-scale work that will take years,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
She assures that by this time Ukraine will have accepted “all agreed upon legislative and institutional changes.”
The official noted that during the implementation of some reforms, in particular anti-corruption, “we have new tasks, for example, the full implementation of the anti-corruption program.”
