It is reported by The New York Times.
Two months after Washington sent the first batch of cluster munitions to Ukraine, U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration plans to send more “soon” “soon” according to U.S. officials.
One official pointed out that the cluster munitions were the key to helping Ukraine maintain the momentum of the counter-offensive its troops recently mounted on the southern front against the Russian army. Ukrainian soldiers used cluster rounds to target Russian troop concentrations, artillery systems, air defenses, ammunition depots, radar stations and vehicles.
US officials have not disclosed how many cluster munitions were included in the first shipment to Ukraine out of the hundreds of thousands the Pentagon has.
