One of the law enforcement officers shot at the wheel of the vehicle, thereby saving people. Ivan Vyhovsky, head of the National Police of Ukraine, spoke about the incident.
As it turned out, a drunk man in the city center at a gas station threatened people to blow up a grenade. As it turned out later, only in words. But at that moment, the threat was perceived as real.
The citizens called the police. When the man saw the patrolmen, he got into the car and began to run away. Patrolmen tried to stop and block the fugitive’s car, but he continued to move. Then one of the law enforcement officers fired a shot at the wheel from a service weapon – thanks to this, the attacker was stopped and detained.
This detention is a clear example of why, in order to protect law-abiding citizens and ensure a safe environment, police officers must carry and safely use firearms. And this issue cannot be debatable,” Vyhovsky wrote on Facebook.
