According to Info Sapiens surveys commissioned by the Center for Economic Strategy (CES), among adults, the proportion of men increased from 17% in November 2022 to 22% in May 2023.
This is confirmed by data on temporary protection in the EU among Ukrainians, where the proportion of adult males increased from 27% in November 2022 to 29% in May 2023.
In addition to legal exit routes (training or certain types of work), an illegal way of crossing the border or corruption cannot be ruled out, the CEC concludes.
Among other things, little has changed in the demographics of refugees. The vast majority are still women (the largest proportion of women aged 35-49 is 18%) and children.
Between 1.3 and 3.3 million Ukrainian war fugitives may not return to Ukraine, say researchers from the Center for Economic Strategy. This is 400-600 thousand people more than was recorded in December last year.
