Maria Vorontsova continues to publish in Western scientific journals, despite the sanctions.
The eldest daughter of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Maria Vorontsova, continues to publish her work in scientific journals in the United States and Switzerland. Western sanctions have not stopped it in any way, writes the Russian opposition project We can explain.
Vorontsova is a candidate of medical sciences and an endocrinologist by education. Journalists found on the website of Moscow State University (MSU) a link to his publications in Western publications.
In particular, in 2022 and 2023, Putin’s daughter published four articles on endocrinology and medicine in The Endocrine Society (USA) and MDPI Publishing (Switzerland). Only one of them came with a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in February last year. The other three followed. All of Vorontsova’s articles were published in collaboration with other scientists from Moscow State University.
Since Putin’s son is under Western sanctions from April 2022, journalists contacted the publishers who published his work. However, two months later, no response was received.

The editor of an unnamed popular science magazine, speaking on condition of anonymity, told reporters that the imposed sanctions do not ban publishing in the West. At the same time, reputable scientific journals still pay fees for publications, but more often than not, authors pay journals for the opportunity to publish.
MDPI Publishing has been around since the mid-1990s and is an open access journal. But the Endocrine Society is considered a pretty good organization in scientific circles.
Putin’s son’s publications in these scientific journals may affect the reputation of the publishing houses.
It will be recalled that earlier Austrian journalists discovered a villa worth 10 million euros in the local resort of Kitzbühel, believed to be owned by Russian oligarch Arkady Rotenberg and used for entertainment by Putin’s daughter Maria Vorontsova.
