The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct an offensive operation in the direction of Melitopol, consolidate the achieved lines, and carry out counter-battery measures. This was announced by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the evening briefing on Tuesday, September 5.
During the day, aviation carried out 11 strikes on the areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, and two – on the enemy’s anti-aircraft missile systems.
Missile troops and artillery units hit the area of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, 12 artillery weapons in firing positions and an ammunition depot of the Russians.
It was noted that during the day the enemy launched 32 air strikes, made 39 attacks from multiple rocket launchers on positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and settlements. As a result of the Russian terrorist attack, there were dead and wounded among the civilian population. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed.
During the day, more than 20 clashes took place on the front. In the direction of Limansky, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in the area of Novogorovka, Lugansk region. Under the direction of Bakhmut, the Ukrainian military successfully repelled Russian attacks in the area north of Kleshchievka, Donetsk region.
In the direction of Maryinka, the Defense Forces continue to prevent the advance of Russian troops in the area of Maryinka, Donetsk region.
At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to conduct an offensive operation in the direction of Melitopol, consolidate the achieved lines, and carry out counter-battery measures.
Recall that in the morning the General Staff announced the victories in the Rabotino-Novoprokopovka sector in the Zaporozhye region.
