Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said there was “no hopeful prospect of peace” on the horizon in Russia’s war against Ukraine. He told media representatives about this after a visit to Sochi, where he met with a war criminal, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, CNN Tukr reports.

According to Erdogan, Ankara’s position on the war in Ukraine is unambiguous – “from the first day we have always stood for peace, dialogue and diplomacy.”
We made great efforts to prevent further bloodshed. We didn’t add fuel to the fire, we tried to get both sides to meet. Unfortunately, the war, which has been going on for a year and a half, continues. There is no hopeful prospect of peace on the horizon, the Turkish president said.
He noted that Turkey is also ready to contribute to the peace talks and will continue its role as a mediator “in issues such as the exchange of prisoners and the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.”
Recall, on August 31, in Moscow, before the meeting between Erdogan and Putin, a meeting was held between the Foreign Ministers of Turkey and Russia. They discussed the “grain agreement” and ways to achieve peace in Ukraine. On September 4, Erdogan, following a meeting with Putin, expressed hope for reaching an agreement on the Black Sea grain initiative.
