The armed aggression of the Russian Federation continues and there are no prospects for a peaceful settlement, which would be reassuring, the Turkish leader emphasized.
There is no hope for peace between Russia and Ukraine, but regardless of this, Turkey is ready to continue to intervene in negotiations. Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said this at a press conference on September 5, reports CNN Türk.
He noted that regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine, Ankara’s position is clear.
“From the first day we have stood for peace, dialogue and diplomacy. We have worked hard to avoid further bloodshed. Instead of exacerbating the problem and adding fuel to the fire, we have tried to ensure a meeting on a common basis for on both sides. But the war, which has been going on for a year and a half, unfortunately, continues. The visible horizons do not encourage the hope of peace,” Erdogan insisted.
The President added that Turkey is ready to contribute to the peace talks and will continue to play the role of a mediator on issues such as the exchange of prisoners and the situation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
Recall that on the eve of Erdogan met in Sochi with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and discussed the continuation of the grain corridor, which was blocked by Moscow.
