The number of people infected with Legionella in Poland has risen to 165. There are now 111 confirmed cases in Rzeszow alone.
Russia is trying to use propaganda to make Ukrainians fleeing the war guilty of the outbreak of legionellosis in Poland. This was announced on Monday, September 4, by Stanislav Zharin, Deputy Minister Coordinator of Special Services and Government Commissioner for Information Space Security of the Republic of Poland, on the page at X (Twitter).
“Russia was quick to seize the opportunity to promote typical lies,” he said.
He noted that the Russians planned to sow panic in Polish cities.
“We saw messages that fit the typical line of Russian influence in Poland. There are attempts to show that legionella is a result of the reception of Ukrainian refugees, that it is a disease brought from Ukraine to Poland,” he says.
Zharin pointed out that Russia “has also presented absurd theses that there is no de facto legionellosis in Poland, and what is happening is actually an attempt to hide the fact that Poland is sending large soldiers and mercenaries to Ukraine.”
“This kind of nonsense and absurdity is a typical line of Russia, which, on the one hand, is trying to inflame distrust between Poles and Ukrainians, is trying to ignite a fire between our societies. And on the other hand, it tries to show that Poland is directly involved in the hostilities, is provoking, agitating and leading the West into a war with Russia,” he said.
According to the deputy minister-coordinator of special services, “all these actions are designed to undermine cooperation between the West and Ukraine.”
“Russia is now considering its information activities as an element of the war against Ukraine,” Zharin insisted.
In Poland’s Podkarpackie Voivodeship, the death toll from legionellosis rose to 19 people.
Remember that the center of the disease is the city of Rzeszow, the capital of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The first case of legionellosis infection was detected on 17 August. According to city authorities, the source of the disease is the water supply system.
