Police detained activist Yelena Kozhevnikova during a picket on Red Square in Moscow.

This is reported by the human rights project “OVD-Info” with reference to the detainee.

Kozhevnikova took to the square wrapped in the Ukrainian flag. How long the action lasted is unclear. The detainee was taken to the police department in the Kitay-gorod district.

Subsequently, Kozhevnikova was released from the police department with protocols under articles on discrediting the Russian army and violating the rules for holding a public event.

Since the start of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Kremlin has instituted tougher repressive legislation. The police quickly eliminate attempts to publicly speak out in support of Ukraine.
