The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced a ban on entry into the country for 41 Canadian citizens “in response to another anti-Russian personal sanctions.”
The bans are said to have been adopted in response to Canadian sanctions against the leadership of the Russian Ministry of Defense, military leaders and representatives of business circles.This was stated in a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, European Pravda reports .
“Entry into Russia is permanently closed for Canadian citizens, including leaders of organizations supporting ultra-nationalist forces in Ukraine, as well as senior military officials,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Twenty -two Canadian citizens on the list are leaders and members of the Ukrainian Congress of Canada, four more – of the World Congress of Ukrainians, two of the Ukrainian Credit Union, one each of the Carpathian Credit Union and the Council of Ukrainian Credit Unions.
Russia also banned the entry of eight Canadian Deputy Ministers of Defense and the First Deputy Chief of the Canadian National Defense Staff.
We will recall, Canada has previously imposed new sanctions in response to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Among others, Alina Kabaeva, who is considered the current wife of the Russian leader, was included in the list of sanctions.
