From the very beginning, the MiG-31K interceptors, which are not very numerous in Russia, were specially equipped for this as a carrier of Kinzhal missiles.
Russian aggressors began using Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles from Su-34 fighter-bombers. This was reported by TASS with reference to a source in the Russian Defense Ministry on Monday, September 4.
“The Su-34 aircraft used the Kinzhal hypersonic missile in the SVO course. The first crew who successfully completed this task was presented with state awards,” said the interlocutor of the agency.
Kinzhal is a Russian complex with aeroballistic missiles, which in Russia continues to be called “hypersonic”. From the very beginning, the MiG-31K interceptors, which are not very numerous in Russia, were specially equipped for this purpose.
At the same time, Russian media reported that they plan to convert Tu-22M3 and Su-34 strategic bombers to Kinzhals.
In turn, journalist Andrei Tsaplienko claims that the use of daggers from the Su-34 will increase the chances of shooting down these missiles.
“For high-altitude and high-speed MiG-31K is part of an aviation complex that provided “hypersound”. The technical characteristics of the Su-34 do not fully allow it,” he said.
It will be recalled that on August 11, Russia last attacked Ukraine with Kinzhal missiles. One of them was shot down, and four others hit the airport in Kolomyia in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. The target of the enemy is young pilots who will be trained in the F-16.
