In the Podkarpackie Voivodeship of Poland, the number of deaths due to legionellosis increased to 19 people, two new cases of infection were confirmed. This is confirmed by the data of the sanitary and epidemiological service, reports Polsat News.

Everyone who died had an illness. Two new infected were hospitalized on Thursday. In total, 160 cases of infection have been confirmed. The largest number of cases was recorded in Rzeszow – 107.

Remember that the center of the disease is the city of Rzeszow, the capital of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The first case of legionellosis infection was detected on 17 August. According to city authorities, the source of the disease is the water supply system.

Legionellosis (“Legionnaires’ disease”, Pittsburgh pneumonia, Pontiac fever) is a chronic infectious disease caused by microorganisms belonging to the genus Legionella.

This usually occurs with high fever, general intoxication, damage to the lungs, central nervous system, and digestive organs. Perhaps the development of multiple organ failure syndrome.
