This was stated by the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia from 2011 to 2014, Michael McFaul. He posted a suitable thread on X (Twitter).
And on September 2, McFaul shared his thoughts on ways to hasten the end of Russia’s war against Ukraine in a conversation with Espresso.
More weapons, better weapons, and as soon as possible. I would say the same about sanctions. This is the fastest way to end this war,” summed up the American diplomat.
McFaul believes that the roads are most afraid of the loss of the Crimea.
He is afraid of transferring the war to the Crimea, to your country, not his. That’s what he fears the most, because it would undermine the legitimacy of his war in Russia, McFaul said.
The politician added that Putin’s failure to keep Crimea would be “a threatening consequence of his regime.”
