Ukrainian developers of drones were preparing for a scenario when China would ban the export of components for drones to other countries, and began to produce analogues.
Currently, all components for the most popular product, FPV drones, which are produced in our country more than 5 thousand units per month, can be purchased in Ukraine. This was told by the manufacturer of UAVs “Dovbush” and “Kotigoroshko” Vladimir Yatsenko on the air of the Unified National Telethon.
On September 1, China at the level of the country’s leadership banned the export of components for drones. And already some Chinese companies have informed foreign manufacturers that they will not supply their equipment. This is one of those not pleasant enough, but I would assess the situation a little differently. Because Ukrainian manufacturers have done what I always call for: “guys, let’s not be integrators anymore, let’s be manufacturers in essence,” Yatsenko said.
Ukrainian manufacturers have quickly reoriented themselves and two companies are already producing analogues of Chinese equipment, meeting the needs that exist for the production of drones.
If we take a mass product, FPV drones, and they are now produced approximately over 5 thousand units per month, then they are already completely produced from Ukrainian components.
And it’s just great. I am very proud of this. As for larger, more expensive drones, there are imported components, but this is no longer China, this is already a slightly different level, for example, Australia, European manufacturers. That is, there will be no collapse in the market for drone manufacturers due to the ban on the export of Chinese components. This is my confident forecast,” Yatsenko said.
In addition, he noted that the appearance of the Ukrainian army of drones, which can hit targets on enemy territory at a distance of 500 km with an error of up to 20 m, puts Ukraine on a par with the world’s best arms manufacturers.
