The two-week North Coast exercise, which begins on September 9, will involve troops from all NATO countries located in the Baltic Sea.
NATO countries and partners will hold large-scale naval exercises in the Baltic Sea, during which actions will be taken in the event of a Russian attack in this region. This is what Commander-in-Chief of the German Navy, Vice Admiral Jan Christian Kaak, said, Reuters reports.
“We are sending a clear signal to Russia to be vigilant: Just not us. Credible deterrence must include the possibility of an attack,” he said.
Reportedly, in a two-week exercise north coast, which will begin on September 9, will bring together military personnel from all NATO countries located in the Baltic Sea. Sweden, the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Belgium and France will also participate in the exercise.
The US Navy will deploy the more than 200-meter-long Mesa Verde, a ship designed to transport and disembark about 800 Marines in an amphibious assault, Kaak said.
Another direction of the exercises, which will be held on the coast of Latvia and Estonia, is to ensure the safety of sea routes through the Baltic Sea.
“Finland and the Baltic countries are almost 100% dependent on sea routes for supplies in the Baltic Sea. If the Suwalki corridor is blocked – and it is easy to do, because there are only two roads and one railway line – then we will only have sea routes, and that we have to bypass them,” said the German Vice Admiral.
It was previously reported that the United States, South Korea and Japan conducted exercises against the background of the DPRK threat.
It will be remembered that the Malabar international exercises were held in Australia.
