Ukraine has completed the main stage of liquidation of the consequences of the disaster caused by the Russians that weakened the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. This was announced on Friday, September 1, at a meeting of the Presidium of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine, said the Minister of the Interior, Igor Klymenko.
He noted that more than 2,000 people, 300 pieces of equipment and more than a hundred watercraft are involved in these activities every day.
The minister informed that 180 settlements of Kherson, Dnepropetrovsk and Nikolaev regions, where almost 900 thousand people live, fell into the disaster zone.
“About 700,000 Ukrainians were left without access to drinking water, they were delivered 148,000 tons of drinking and technical water, almost 119,000 tons of food and essential items,” said Klymenko.
The minister added that in order to prevent the deterioration of the sanitary situation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the Food and Consumer Service of the State, local governments and fisheries, carried out more than 173,000 raids.
As you know, on the night of June 6, Russian troops blew up the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, which caused large-scale flooding of territories in the Kherson region and caused great environmental, economic and humanitarian damage to Ukraine.
Urgent laying of the main water pipelines in the Dnipropetrovsk region began to complete the work in the fall. Thus, it is possible to provide water to cities such as Krivoy Rog, Marganets and Nikopol.
