Rockwool insulation materials were used in three of the most modern submarines of the Russian fleet.
Three modern submarines of the Russian fleet are equipped with ship insulation from the Danish group Rockwool. This was reported on August 31 by Danwatch, citing Russian tender documents.
It was noted that Rockwool entered into the first LLC agreements Complex marine systems (ISS) in June and September 2014 – a few months after Russia’s annexation of the Crimean peninsula. According to the agreements, it is planned to provide more than 15 thousand square meters of ship insulation at the shipyard Sevmash.
The insulation brand SeaRox SL 440 at a cost of 4.7 million rubles (700,000 Danish kroner) is intended for the construction of two advanced submarines Belgorod And Prince Vladimir.
In December 2016, MKS entered into an agreement with Admiralty Shipyard, which ordered about 1,700 square meters of SeaRox SL 400 for the construction of a submarine Great Luki.
Danwatch previously stated that Rockwool products are sold to a large part of the Russian fleet through the distributor ISS.
In this regard, the Danish authorities conducted an investigation, but came to the conclusion that the company does not violate EU anti-Russian sanctions.
At the same time, the publication notes that companies like Rockwool must also comply with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. In particular, to ensure that they do not contribute to human rights violations at all stages of the business process.
Rockwool Group acknowledged that their shipping products entered the Russian market and, in some cases, were used on Russian naval vessels. However, it “cannot be weaponized or used for military purposes.”
“None of the stone wool products are classified as dual-use,” a company spokesperson said.
Earlier it was reported that the Taiwanese manufacturer Acer has supplied computer equipment to Russia, despite claims about stopping business in the country.
