Andriy Vasilenko publicly criticized the Ukrainian independence process and praised the Soviet occupation of Lithuania.
The state expert of the Ministry of Education and Science Andriy Vasilenko will be fired because of his anti-Ukrainian statements. This was said by the head of the department Oksen Lisovoy in an interview with the Public, published on September 1.
“The person was offered to write a letter of resignation. He refused. So we are going through the discipline. For a civilian, this is an unacceptable level, first, in public statements, and secondly, in the world view. There is no place. for such people in our team,” said the minister.
To a clarifying question, if the dismissal could be expected, the minister answered in the affirmative.
“Even if the person later appeals against it in court. I will not work with such a person in the team,” he stressed.
Recall that on August 24, Vasilenko wrote on Facebook that in 1991 the Ukrainian people allegedly did not understand anything and supported Act of Declaration of Independence just thanks for the “propaganda”.
He also noted that independence did not benefit all former Soviet countries, and “Soviet occupation was the best thing that could have happened to Lithuania.”
After the situation was disclosed, the Ministry of Education initiated disciplinary proceedings against Vasilenko.
