RDK representatives said that Russian air defense was unable to protect the military airfield from the drone attack, but instead hit a residential building.
The Russian Volunteer Corps, fighting on the side of Ukraine, claimed responsibility for the attack on the airport in Russia’s Kursk region on August 27, which it carried out jointly with the SBU. RDK reported this on Telegram.
“After again passing through the porous border without obstacles, on the night of August 27, we hit a military facility with drones: an airport with Putin’s vultures. All the intended targets were destroyed. We noticed : the legitimate targets who brought grief and death in a peaceful way. Ukrainian cities. Air defense elements, covered by executioners’ planes,” the report said.
The RDC said that the building in the Kursk region, where, according to Russian authorities, the drone allegedly crashed, actually suffered from a Russian air defense missile.
How many aircraft were damaged in the attack on the airport was not specified.
So far, neither the SBU nor the Russian authorities have commented on the RDC statement.
Recall that on the night of August 27, the military counterintelligence of the SBU attacked the Kursk airfield with drones: it worked with four Su-30 aircraft and one MIG-29. Also among the hit targets were the radars of the S-300 complex and two Pantsirs.
