The photo shows how at least two Il-76 aircraft were damaged. Experts believe that the UAV could have tried to get into the fuel tanks of the aircraft, but hit the surface near the wings. However, this should put the sides out of action for two to three months due to overhaul. This was reported by Radio Liberty, which published images from Planet Labs.
Also near one of the planes you can see two red cars, similar to firefighters, which could be attracted to extinguish the fire. Another part of the airfield in Pskov could not be fixed due to high cloud cover.
As you know, Il-76 aircraft are constantly based at the Pskov airfield, they are used by the 76th Guards Air Assault Division of the Russian Army, which is also called the “Pskov division”. This unit is one of those involved in the capture of Bucha at the beginning of a full-scale invasion.
Recall that on August 30, the most massive strike by drones was dealt to the Russian Federation since the beginning of a full-scale war. In particular, the Pskov airfield was hit, where Il-76 transport aircraft, an oil depot and the location of the 104th Guards Airborne Assault Regiment were hit.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine confirmed the destruction of four Il-76 heavy military transport aircraft and damage to a number of aircraft.
