The third missile strike at the end of July 2023 on the port infrastructure of the Odessa region was a knockout for AES Group. We have lost almost all assets on the territory of Ukraine. The air attack that took place on the night of August 10 dealt the last crushing blow. Unfortunately, this is the essence of war, this is its price, these are its consequences,” the statement said.
The owners of Metalist 1925 are the AES Group holding, which includes enterprises in the energy, oil refining and alcohol industries. Recent rocket attacks by Muscovites on the terminal in Reni and the oil depot in Dubno caused enormous damage to the company.
AES Group is now fighting for survival, it has no time for football. Consequently, the financing of the club has been terminated, the authors of the KGC project wrote.
The top management of Metalist 1925 is now urgently looking for new owners, but so far there is little hope.
Already in the next round of the UPL – on Sunday, the team will most likely not play against the “Movement”. Thus, the club gives the players the opportunity to find a new team by the end of the transfer window.
According to the rules of the UPL, if the club plays more than half of the matches of the season, and then withdraws from the competition, then in the remaining matches its opponents will be given a technical victory. But if less than half, all the results of this club are cancelled.
This means that Shakhtar and Oleksandriya, who managed to play with Metalist 1925 and win, will lose 3 points in the standings. And Minai and LNZ, which lost to Metallist in 1925, on the contrary, are breathing out, their defeats will be written off, that is, they have not lost anything compared to other teams.
