The head of state spoke about the meeting with representatives of the parliament and government on the implementation of recommendations on EU accession.
Ukraine must pass the laws necessary to join the EU. To do this, the Verkhovna Rada must have at least 226 votes during the voting period for the relevant bills. This was announced in a speech in the evening on Wednesday, August 30, by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
He emphasized that he held a large meeting with representatives of parliament, government and international affairs on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. Important attention was paid to Ukraine’s readiness to start membership negotiations.
“Implementation of recommendations. We need bills that are already prepared and for which you have to vote in parliament. 226 votes for every decision for Ukraine in the European Union is a duty,” Zelensky stressed.
As you know, to make legislative decisions, the Parliament of Ukraine needs to collect at least 226 votes.
Earlier, the government acknowledged that Ukraine this year will not fulfill all the recommendations for joining the EU.
The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, said that she supports the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s membership in the European Union in mid-December this year.
