Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhny spoke about this after a conversation with the Chief of the Defense Staff of the Kingdom of Denmark, General Flemming Lentfer.
The Ukrainian commander-in-chief reported on his social networks that the focus of the conversation was the training of Ukrainian pilots and engineers on the F-16, which continues in Denmark.
General Lentfer said that some of our pilots had already successfully completed preparatory measures and could begin flight training. In addition, we agreed with Danish partners to start working on logistics to ensure the maintenance and repair of F-16 fighters in Ukraine,” said Valery Zaluzhny.
He thanked all the Danish people, the government for the decision to transfer 19 F-16 aircraft to Ukraine and all-round support in the fight against the Russian aggressor.
Recall that in August, Ukrainian pilots and technical staff officially started working with F-16 aircraft. After that, as expected, Ukraine will receive the promised aircraft. When exactly this can happen and how Ukrainian air aces are trained, the pilots and Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov say.
Talks about the transfer of American F-16 aircraft to Ukraine have been going on for more than six months. As the allies noted, including in official Washington, in order for this process to begin, it was necessary to train specialists – pilots and technical personnel. Training was expected to begin in the summer.
Pilots and technical personnel will be trained in 11 countries, the main ones being the Netherlands and Denmark. During the training, instructors will see how fast the process is going, whether technicians, engineers and pilots are working together.
