Mikhail Shelkov bypassed the personal sanctions imposed on him by the National Security and Defense Council. For this purpose, he used a controlled company of one of the European countries.
Law enforcement officers have exposed new crimes by sanctioned Russian oligarch Mikhail Shelkov, who was involved in schemes of secret delivery of Ukrainian titanium raw materials to the Russian Federation. This was reported by the SBU on Wednesday, August 30.
It was established that Shelkov evaded personal sanctions imposed on him by the National Security and Defense Council. For this purpose, he used a controlled company of one of the European countries.
“On paper, this foreign business acted as a customer of titanium raw materials to the LLC Demurinsky Mining and Processing Plant from the Dnepropetrovsk region. However, in fact, Ukrainian products are sent by train to Russia. Such a scheme was operated before the full invasion of Russia and brought millions of superprofits to the organizers of the deal by avoiding taxes and hiding real income. Thus, in 2020-2021, the defendants caused damage to the state budget of about UAH 100 million,” the report said.
Shelkov was informed of suspicion under articles on tax evasion and fees, as well as legalization of property obtained by criminal means (Article 212, Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) .
Recall that in June the SBU informed Shelkov about the suspicion of another round of illegal activity. Then the secret service established that the oligarch was secretly supplying Ukrainian titanium raw materials to Russia for the needs of the military-industrial complex.
It was previously known that Russian General Valery Kapashin’s billions in assets were seized in Ukraine. The list includes more than 20 commercial properties, more than 3 thousand square meters of residential real estate and 17 land plots in the Poltava region.
It has also been reported that Ukraine nationalized the properties of Russian oligarch Andrei Molchanov.
