This was announced by the speaker of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat in an interview with the Public.
According to him, the plane crash occurred while performing a combat mission. However, Ignat refused to disclose what task the pilots were performing.
There was a takeoff, they were actually at the start, when they took off from the airfield, they collided. When they flew, they performed the task assigned to them by the unit,” said the speaker of the Air Force.
He added that L-39 aircraft are used both for training and for combat missions, and in war conditions, “almost all sorties throughout the country.” The three pilots who died were maneuvering in pairs.
Flights for group takeoff – this takes off two planes at once. This is a tactical technique that is necessary in order to fight the invaders. The closer they are to each other in group take-off, the less noticeable they can be on enemy radars,” the speaker explained.
Ignat stressed that the cause of the tragedy is still unknown, the investigation is ongoing.
What was the reason? Even experienced pilots, very experienced, tell me that it’s hard to say. We need to figure it out – flight recorders, radio traffic, all this will be analyzed and this information will be provided on what happened,” he said.
Recall that on August 25, two L-39 combat training aircraft collided in the Zhytomyr region. As a result of the accident, three Ukrainian pilots were killed: the famous pilot Andrey Pilshchikov with the call sign “Dzhus”, Major Vyacheslav Minka and Major Sergei Prokazin.
