Botashev was buried on June 2. They said goodbye to him with all honor in the central square of Karachaevsk. A funeral prayer was performed – Janazah -namaz.

Kanamat Botashev was recognized as the best pilot of the Trans-Baikal Military District of the Russian Federation in 2007. He commanded an air division in this district, and later served in Voronezh.
So far, Botashev is Russia’s highest -ranking pilot whose death has been recognized in Ukraine. The Air Force wrote that according to data from open sources, at least 31 Russian military pilots are known to have died in Ukraine. In this case, the real losses may be greater.
