This was stated on August 28 on the air of Radio Liberty by the head of the Public Anti-Corruption Council under the Ministry of Defense Yevgeny Grushovets.
The council also established that the Ministry of Defense did not have those invoices (invoices) that journalists have. These documents are presented exclusively by the Turkish side when the goods are shipped. The council is also planning a trip to the warehouse where these jackets are stored.
Regarding the inflated prices, according to him, this issue is definitely not in the Ministry of Defense, because the price was indicated in the contract at the time of signing. This is not a Ukrainian production, so how the manufacturer will declare this product in his country of origin, then in the countries through which these jackets were transited, is, in fact, absolutely not the concern of the Ministry of Defense,” he explains.
Grushovets said that the Ministry of Defense purchased more than 180 thousand jackets, which journalists wrote about. This was done in different companies, including Ukrainian ones.
Whether there really was a corruption component in the price – the council hopes that it will be able to answer this question in the near future.
He says that the Ministry of Defense is not responsible for the possible overpricing of jackets made abroad.
In fact, the important question is whether this company is associated with a representative of the authorities or the deputy corps. If it really was a conspiracy, this is one story, this is corruption,” Grushovets noted.
According to him, the only problem with these jackets, which concerned the label, was established. Otherwise, the quality control commission did not find any problems with the jackets, and because of their need in the winter season, they were all accepted.
It also turned out that the manufacturer or supplier did not receive the entire prepayment under the contract.
Earlier, the media reported that one of the owners of the Turkish company was the nephew of the People’s Deputy from the “Servant of the People” Gennady Kasai.
Defense Minister Reznikov promised to step down from his post if the media reports about jackets for the Armed Forces of Ukraine turn out to be true.
