This was announced today, August 27, on his Facebook page by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strelets.
The official cited data from calculations by Ukrainian conservationists who keep records of the damage done to the environment:
- in May 2022, after the expulsion of the rashists from the north of Ukraine, when these figures were first announced, the established damage amounted to UAH 13.2 billion;
- by August 2022, this figure increased to UAH 395 billion;
- in December 2022, after the de-occupation of the Kharkiv region and Kherson, when the mass rocket attacks of the rashists continued, the damage amounted to almost UAH 1.5 trillion;
- in August 2023 – the updated data is UAH 2 trillion. Work continues on the calculation of damage on the case of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station blown up by Russians.
The amount is growing every day. These are far from definitive figures. We will get a complete picture after the de-occupation of all of Ukraine, the minister notes.
