The Antalya port visit was the ship’s fourth stop during its stay in the US Naval Operations Area in Europe.
The world’s largest aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford has arrived in Antalya (Turkey). This was reported by the US Embassy in Turkey.
It is known that the aircraft carrier of the US Navy arrived at the port of Antalya with 4,500 crew members.
This port visit is the ship’s fourth stop during its stay in the US Naval Operations Area Europe (NAVEUR) and reinforces the strong partnership between the US and Turkey. As part of her previous port visits during the deployment, the USS visited Norway, Croatia, Greece.
Earlier, Turkish Navy (TCG) ships Anadolu, Goksu, Gediz, Imbat, Meltem, Burakreis and Air Force F-16s, KC-135s, P-72s conducted a series of coordinated activities with American ship.
“The exercise was conducted to increase the interoperability of the partners and demonstrate a commitment to security in the Mediterranean,” the statement said.
The embassy noted that the US Navy regularly conducts exercises with Turkey, sending its largest aircraft carrier to Antalya just days after the US Sixth Fleet command ship USS Mount Whitney visited Istanbul and the guided missile cruiser that USS Normandy visited Aksaz.
It can be recalled that in April, Turkey commissioned its largest warship TCG Anadolu.
