Approximately 20% of captured Russians surrender voluntarily. The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, spoke about this in an interview with Radio Liberty.

He noted that Ukraine has “much less” of the so-called exchange fund than Russia has.
Because in the first days of the Russian invasion, a terrible number of hostages were taken here, including civilians, pensioners of law enforcement agencies, just people who, they believed that there was someone terrible for them, and so on. Therefore, our figures, unfortunately, are lower. We must understand this. And, unfortunately, I think we will not be able to catch up with these figures,” he added.
Budanov also commented on the “work” of Ukrainian marine drones. According to him, 60-70% of them are destroyed, but this is an effective weapon. Budanov declined to name the number of drones in use or the missions they perform.
How effective is it? Since there are losses incurred and the price of such a drone, and the price of a warship are incomparable, we can say that this is a fairly effective method,” the head of the GUR pointed out.
