Uvalde School Police Chief Avoids CNN Reporter’s Questions With Painful Excuse –

Peter Arendo, who served as the school district police chief in the area last week in a deadly shooting in Walta, Texas, denied he did not cooperate with state law enforcement, but he did not say much.

Arendondo’s response to the shooting was criticized because it reportedly prevented at least 19 school officials from entering classrooms, allowing the gunman to continue firing for at least an hour. On May 24, an 18 -year -old assailant killed 19 children and two teachers at Robbie Elementary School.

Since then, Arendondo, who is now on city council, has not made too many public statements about his actions and reportedly failed to respond to an interview request from the Texas Department of Public Safety. According to the Associated Press.

Arendo said he would not release any new information because “we have people buried in our community”, adding that “we will be respectful of families”.

Prokupetsz said it was an opportunity for Arendo to explain his actions to the families and the boss said they intended to do so “finally”.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said Tuesday that for two days Arendo refused to respond to additional requests for interviews during the school’s May 24 law enforcement investigation.

Arendo was also officially sworn in as city councilor on Tuesday.

Although the mayor’s uncle initially postponed the swearing -in ceremony in honor of the victims ’family, it was still held, but there was no public ceremony.
