The man sold more than 1,200 poison kits to people in 40 countries who were planning to kill themselves.
In the UK, the National Crime Agency is investigating 88 deaths that may have involved a Canadian chef. The Guardian writes about it.
It was learned that 57-year-old Kenneth Lowe was accused of selling poison kits online.
In April, the agency received information that many people through online stores were buying substances that aid in suicide.
Meanwhile, in Canada, data on 232 British customers who ordered the poisonous substance were added to the list of the international search organization Interpol. It was later learned that 88 of them had died.
In an investigation in Canada, law enforcement officials exposed the chef of one of the elite hotels, Kenneth Lowe, as a supplier of poison.
In May, he was arrested and charged with selling more than 1,200 poison kits online to people in 40 countries who were planning to kill themselves. At the same time, it is not known how many of these kits were filled with the poisonous substance. Investigations are also ongoing in the US, Italy, Australia and New Zealand.
Peel Regional Police in the Canadian province of Ontario said the man was selling sodium nitrite online, which is a white crystalline substance sometimes used in the food industry, but which, when “highly concentrated, can reduce the oxygen levels, impair breathing and lead to death.” The Canadian also sold a mask.
It will be recalled that in March, the police arrested a resident of the Kyiv region, who was suspected of poisoning his lovers. The woman sent her “enemies” bottles of wine laced with thallium.
