“This is a historic moment. We can not close the doors on Ukraine,” he said.
The European Commission will make a final decision on Ukraine’s candidate status in June, Burbock said, “but we Germans have a special responsibility right now.”

“Ukrainians are fighting bravely because they know what kind of future they want. The future of a free and open society belonging to a common democratic community. They want to join the EU. We have repeatedly heard it. I believe it is not only our strategic interest, and our moral duty is to allow their membership in the EU and make way for them in our Union, “said the head of the European Commission.
According to Ursula von der Leyen, EU investment in Ukraine should be closely linked to the implementation of reforms, and Ukraine itself must fulfill the necessary conditions for entry and meet the standards.
“But how fast (Ukraine will move to the EU. – Ed.), What speed – it depends on the country itself and on our support … It depends on us how much we support, invest, and in the hands of our Ukrainian .friends, what are they up to here, “he said.
