The intelligence report said that the pictures were taken immediately after the elimination of two crew members who did not suspect that they were waiting for an ambush.
The helicopter is currently located in Kyiv. The pilot who helped the Ukrainian military carry out the operation is safe and likely to stay in Ukraine, according to Kyrylo Budanov.
The GUR operation with a flight of a Russian Mi-8 helicopter to Ukraine was being prepared for six months. This was announced by the officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, journalist, author of the series of documentaries “Military Intelligence of Ukraine” Artem Shevchenko.
One of these two officers from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is the developer and implementer of precisely that unique semi-annual operation that led on August 9, 2023 to the flight to the territory controlled by Ukraine of the Mi-8 AMTSh helicopter tail number 62 from the 319th separate helicopter regiment, based at the airfield Chernigovka, Primorsky Territory of the Russian Federation (military unit 13984).
His crew commander, a young officer, understood from the very beginning the criminality and unrighteousness of the war unleashed by his aggressive state, believed our military intelligence officers and successfully flew over to the side of goodness, light and justice, Shevchenko noted.
The special operation of the GUR to lure the pilot was called “Tit”. It was very similar to Operation Diamond, which was carried out in 1966 by the Israeli Mossad, persuading an Iraqi pilot to steal the most advanced Soviet MiG-21 at that time.
