Portugal will continue to provide political, diplomatic and humanitarian support to Ukraine, both bilaterally and internationally.

The war between Russia and Ukraine is a global problem that affects all countries of the world. This was announced on Thursday, August 24, by Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Souza at a joint press conference with President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv.

“It is a war against all people, it concerns all states and all citizens of the planet. Now the fate of the world is decided in Ukraine,” said the President of Portugal.

He added that Portugal welcomes Ukraine’s victory and stressed that Lisbon supports all initiatives of Kyiv at the bilateral and international level.

He stressed that Portugal has never recognized the illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia, and noted that his country will continue political, diplomatic and humanitarian support for Ukraine, both bilaterally and internationally, if necessary.

Recall that at the end of March, Portugal presented Ukraine with three Leopard 2A6 tanks. Lisbon then assured that “Portugal will continue to support the Ukrainian resistance to Russia’s illegal aggression.”

Before this, in January, Portugal transferred medical equipment, 14 armored personnel carriers, ammunition and generators to Kyiv.
