Journalist Andrius Tapinas has collected money for this drone, and now he plans to transfer these funds to other aid in Ukraine.
Lithuanian TV presenter Andrius Tapinas raised 5 million euros to buy Bayraktar for Ukrainian defenders. According to Tapinas, when they learned about the noble action of the Lithuanians in Turkey, they decided to give away the drone for free. Andrius Tapinas wrote this on Facebook on June 2.
“Turkey was amazed at the determination of the small Lithuanian people to help Ukraine, that they were able to raise money and the word Bayraktar was heard all over the world within a few days. Therefore, Turkey and the manufacturer Baykar decided to give the Lithuania’s Bayraktar TB2 combat drone with all optics. The exact price has not yet been announced, but it is definitely, more than one or several million euros, “wrote Andrius Tapinas.
Today, Lithuania will pay only 1.5 million euros to give Bayraktar the best ammunition. The remaining money will go to humanitarian, defense or reconstruction projects in Ukraine.
According to him, Turkey has promised to deliver Bayraktar to Lithuania as soon as possible, possibly within three weeks.
Recall that earlier the Lithuanian authorities signed an agreement with Turkey on the purchase of Bayraktar drones for the needs of the Ukrainian army.
