As a result of attacks on Russian military airfields, two Tu-22M3 aircraft were destroyed and two others were damaged.
After recent attacks on airfields in Russia, 27 working Tu-22M3 strategic bombers remained. On Wednesday, August 23, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov, spoke about this in an interview with Radio Liberty.
He noted that 436 Russian aircraft are engaged in air operations against Ukraine.
“That’s a lot. But if you ask how many Tu-22s are with them, it will be units. They have about 31 available Tu-22s, now 29 – and minus two more of them are in under the arrangement, that is. , 27. Which are not many of those that actually fly,” said Budanov.
He added that during operations at the Russian military airfields of Soltsy (Nizhny Novgorod region) and Shaikovka (Kaluga region), two aircraft were completely destroyed and two more were damaged.
At the same time, Budanov noted that the invaders will repair the two damaged aircraft over time, and “this should also be understood.”
He also added that the intelligence knows who destroyed and damaged the enemy aircraft – “these are the people who completed certain tasks from the territory of the Russian Federation.”
Recall that on August 20, Ukraine destroyed for the first time a strategic bomber of the Russian Federation during the attack on the Soltsy airbase. The next day, Russia announced a new drone attack on the plane.
Then the media, citing GUR, reported that five Russian aircraft were destroyed in three days.
