Thus, the head of state commented on proposals to exchange the territory of Ukraine for peace and NATO membership.
Ukraine is fighting for the de-occupation of Crimea and all other Ukrainian territories temporarily occupied by Russia and is not ready to give up any of its lands in exchange for membership in one or another union. This was said by President Volodymyr Zelensky at a meeting with media representatives as part of the third summit of the Crimean international platform in Kyiv, the press service of the head of the state reports.
“I have a clear position: Crimea is Ukraine. We are fighting for Crimea and for all other temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and do not exchange our territories for any membership in any union,” insisted the president.
Zelensky noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting a counter-offensive to de-occupy our cities and villages, but this is a difficult task. According to him, Ukraine needs artillery and long-range weapons, so the help of partners is very important.
The President of Ukraine also spoke about plans to improve security in the Black and Azov Seas.
“The diplomats were tasked with preparing a security alliance for the countries on the Black Sea coast – not in conflict with NATO, don’t think: it also includes NATO countries. So that we have a joint defense of the Black Sea coasts Sea and Azov. from Russian aggression. I can even say: the Azov, Black Sea and Baltic space “, – said the head of state.
It should be remembered that recently the head of the office of the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Stian Jenssen, said that Ukraine could join NATO in exchange for the territories acquired by the Russian Federation.
In response, the Foreign Ministry called the talk about Ukraine joining NATO in exchange for giving up part of the territories completely unacceptable.
