It is the first time Trump’s release conditions have included bail and a ban on social media bullying.
Former US President Donald Trump will turn himself in to the authorities and go to the Fulton County Jail on Thursday, August 24. However, his lawyers have reached an agreement with the county district attorney’s office to release him on $200,000 bail, CNN reported, citing its own sources.
Attorneys for the former president, Todd Blanche, Jennifer Little and Drew Findling, met at the district attorney’s office Monday before the details of the bail deal were released.
Unlike some of his co-defendants, the order expressly prohibits the former president from using social media to attack other participants in the case, as well as any witnesses and 30 unwitting collaborators.
“The Defendant shall not take any action designed to intimidate any person he knows to be a co-defendant or witness in this case, or otherwise obstruct the course of justice,” read the order, signed by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee.
“The above includes, but is not limited to, social media posts or reposts of posts made by other people on social media,” the order said.
It’s the first time Trump’s release conditions have included bail and a ban on bullying on social media.
It will be recalled that after a two-year investigation, Trump received a fourth charge of attempting to falsify the results of the 2020 presidential election.
