The Pentagon has allocated $44.5 billion for the production of arms for Ukraine and the replenishment of American stocks. So far, almost 41% of this amount ($18.2 billion) has been used to sign contracts.
The publication added that the United States has a particular interest in the production of ammunition, drones, anti-aircraft missiles and 155-millimeter artillery shells.
The Pentagon has already awarded nearly $2.3 billion in contracts to increase production from 12,000 to 20,000 units of this caliber per month.
In the future, according to US military plans, it should grow to 28 thousand shells, and in the fall of 2025 the total number of units produced should reach one million per year.
It was noted that such an increase in production capacity forced the United States to look for new suppliers of TNT. In addition to Poland, which is the main source of this explosion in America, the Pentagon plans to involve Japan and several other countries.
The US itself no longer produces TNT, switching to a replacement called IMX, an explosive that delivers power with less risk of accidental detonation.
Earlier, the Pentagon said that the United States has enough weapons for itself and Ukraine.
