Street lighting will operate throughout the night in the central part of the city to prevent possible cases of looting. Alexander Lomako, Acting Mayor of Chernihiv, announced this on his Telegram channel.
Municipal services of Chernigov are now working in the city center, eliminating the consequences of a missile attack. In addition to the location around the music and drama theater, where law enforcement officers are conducting investigative actions, fixing the crime of Russia, – he noted.
The press service of the Chernihiv region police reported that additional law enforcement patrols were involved in order to avoid possible looting.
Also, law enforcement officers make rounds of 66 affected buildings in the center of Chernihiv (a total of about 500 apartments) in order to make sure that everyone survived. The police also recorded damage to 64 cars of the townspeople.
There are 20 investigative and operational groups of the Chernihiv region police and two forensic laboratories near the site of the missile strike, as well as points for receiving applications from injured citizens in the building of the Chernihiv regional police department.
We must clearly document this war crime in order for it to be included in the evidence base of crimes against humanity in the Russian Federation, – stressed the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko, who arrived in Chernihiv.
It is noted that as a result of a Russian missile hit, the roof of the Drama Theater was destroyed, followed by a fire. In addition, a fire broke out on the roof of one of the houses. Rescuers of the State Emergency Service quickly extinguished the fire.
The blast wave damaged cars, windows and doors in nearby residential multi-storey buildings and shops, and other civil infrastructure facilities.
Recall that as a result of a missile attack on the center of Chernihiv, seven people were killed, another 140 sought medical help.
