“We talked about the Gripen aircraft. It is Sweden’s pride… Gripen testing has started with the participation of our pilots. Today we talked in detail about the upcoming steps to open the topic of acquiring the Swedish Gripen,” the president said.
According to Zelensky, during today’s visit to Sweden, he will also meet with the speaker of the parliament and representatives of all political forces. During the meeting, the head of state will raise the issue of the transfer of Gripen fighter jets to Ukraine.
Zelensky also announced negotiations with partners from several countries to strengthen Ukraine in the sky.
“Tomorrow or the next day I will have negotiations with several more states. I am sure that together with our partners we will do everything and achieve the appropriate result in the sky so that the Russians do not have an advantage. When they control the sky, we can’t move quickly on earth.” And we need it,” he said.
“We don’t have a modern aircraft. And in fact, the Swedish Grippen is the pride of your state. And I think the prime minister can share such pride with Ukraine,” added Zelensky with a smile.
In June, it became known that Sweden will train the Ukrainians in Gripen fighters. Then it is about the initial training of Ukrainian pilots and technical aviation personnel.
